The National Public Health Insurance (NHI) Fund, which manages the administration, has received more than 300 million allegations of tender fraud, fraud, irregularities and corruption.

Ten explosive court reports describe GEMS ‘graft, showing that over the past five years, the scheme has paid more than 300 million rupees to some of its executives with direct financial interests.

This comes at a time when South Africans are worried that they will be exposed to NHI corruption. GEMS has emerged as a leading government appointee for the administration of the National Housing Development Authority.
