Increasing Demand: Distribution of abbreviated COVID-19 test kits in New Brunswick

Content of the article

Health officials in New Brunswick today had to shorten the distribution of free COVID-19 fast test kits at three locations in the face of Montcton, NB-long lines and strong demand.

On Thursday, the province announced the delivery of kits to Moncton, Perth, Andover and Grand Falls — areas that have been subject to strict health care measures since Oct. 5 due to rising infections and hospitalizations.

Delivery, however, was suspended at 11.30am in Moncton and around 1pm in Perth Andover and Grind Falls.

At 9 a.m., RCMP was reporting congestion near the Moncton location, a parking lot at Magic Mountain Amusement Park.

Locals took to social media to vent their anger, with some saying more sets should have been provided in many places.

The province on Friday promised to widely distribute rapid test kits at 20 locations across the province on Monday.

This report was first published by the Canadian Press on October 16, 2021.
