IO Interactive is a big risk when a programmer turned his "Hitman" sequel into an episodic game. The input itself was essentially restarting, changing the direction of the series. Instead of being a linear, action-oriented project, title 2016 has made the game more like adventurous point and clicks.
He has used more powerful hardware to create expansive levels, with hundreds of characters changing, following the script scenario. Maps are a stealth field where players search for ways to eliminate their mark. This move opened a new playground where players prevent the use of weapons and instead rely on the dark and environmental intention to kill their targets. Gambling IO Interactive has been paid enough to keep the green light.
"Hitman 2" is an extension of restart, one that facilitates playing and corrects the defects of its predecessors. The main character, Agent 47, continues his hunt for the Shadow Client after he accidentally dismissed people associated with the Illuminati group, named Providence. The game offers a recap of the original, but those with the previous title can download the Legacy Pack free of charge. Includes maps from the previous game and allows new users to experience the whole story.
For non-entrepreneurs, the Legacy Pack offers a good starting point for restarting the series, and the old content conveys improvements below, it's a better experience. Players can learn the language and tools of "Hitman 2", and in that process, the goal of targeted play comes in a sharper focus.
Like the original, this extension allows players to use weapons and rifles to remove the tag, but will miss half the experience. As Agent 47, players should get into the scene. They can follow mission stories from menus or explore the world and discover new traces themselves.
Non-firearms methods check the ability of players to shake, as they often have to figure out how to isolate the goal, remove them, and steal clothes to infiltrate the object. This often means attracting the mark to an isolated location by throwing money or food poisoning to send it to the bathroom only.
Changing clothes in "Hitman 2" is almost like getting a key card. It offers access to new areas, but at the same time players must look at different characters that can identify Agent 47 as fake. As with other stealth games, players need to worry about maintenance and leave no clues to their presence. They have to hide their bodies, find ways to distract the enemies to smash them and shoot them into surveillance cameras.
Harder missions require players to plan a strategy for target isolation or finding routes within the base. They may have to trim their weapons because they will be damaged before entering the house or they may need to find the poison in order to send a key figure to the bathroom where they can crash them.
It often requires a lot of rescue and reload as players understand the intricacies of the assassination. This is one of the shortcomings that remains in "Hitman 2." It is easy to understand and master mechanics, but at the same time it may be punishable if Agent 47 detects.
Another disappointing element is that cutting the scene by introducing each level and explaining the consequences of the mission are actually photographed. Unlike the previous title, "Hitman 2" offers a bit of a CG scene. It hurts narrative, which is more convincing this time, while Agent 47 sank and his relationship with Shadow Client and Providence.
In his favor, "Hitman 2" returns the live content that the team introduced in the original. Elusive Targets returns and gives players an incentive to play the game again. Another benefit of multiple gameplay is that players can complete new mission stories, and each player can get new tools and starting positions.
Two new modes – Sniper Assassins and Ghost Mode – are designed to make "Hitman 2" more than a multiplayer flair. Sniper Assassins is a cooperative way in which players work together to catch the target, and Ghost Mode is a competitive scenario where two people head to head to see who can earn the most killings.
Both should extend the "Hitman 2" life span, but this is the most important experience of one player. It makes a franchise stand out of a full field.
