Senate Sonny Angara says the Senate and House of Representatives will be able to approve the proposed national budget for Manila – 2021 in the Philippines next week.
Angara made the remarks at a meeting of the Congressional Bilateral Conference Committee to prepare next year’s national budget.
“It is very strategic to set a time frame for legislation that we have enough time. I think I will approve Sanaa by next week, ”Angara told reporters.
(Setting a timeline for legislation is very tactical, but the good thing here is that we have enough time. I think we can approve this by next week.)
“Last year I think we spent a little more than a week, so if we present a similar budget, by next week, Sanaa, Sanaa, self-approve,” the senator said.
(Last year, I think it took a little over a week, so if we come up with a similar budget, we can approve this by next week.)
Appropriation Chairman Eric Yap previously said the House and Senate were looking to finalize the 2021 budget on Friday, December 4th.
Once the disagreements in the Senate and House versions of the 2021 budget have been resolved by Bycom, both houses must approve it before sending it to President Rodrigo Duterte’s office for approval.
However, Angara expressed confidence that the country would not start 2021 with a revised budget.
