Important safety information
NOT take Acthar until you have spoken to your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
- A skin condition called scleroderma
- Loss of bone density or osteoporosis
- Any infection, including fungi, bacteria or viruses
- Ocular infections such as ocular herpes simplex
- He had a recent surgery
- Stomach ulcers or a history of gastric ulcers
- Heart failure
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Allergies to proteins derived from pigs
- They have been given or are about to receive a live or attenuated live vaccine
- Suspected congenital infections (in children under 2 years of age)
- If you have been told that you have Cushing's syndrome or Addison's disease
Tell your doctor about any other health problems you have. Give the doctor a complete list of the medications you are taking. Include all medicines without a prescription, the vitamins and herbal supplements you are taking.
What is H.P. Acthar® Gel?
Acthar is a prescription drug for flare-ups or on a regular basis (maintenance) in individuals with dermatomyositis or polymyositis (DM-PM).
Acthar is a prescription medicine for flare-ups or on a regular basis (maintenance) in people with systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus).
Acthar is an additional drug prescribed for short-term administration (for tidal patients on an acute episode or exacerbation) in: psoriatic arthritis (PsA); rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (selected cases may require low-dose maintenance therapy); ankylosing spondylitis.
Acthar is injected under the skin or in the muscle.
