Learn how to fight the falling transition from a professional astrologer, Natha Campanella.
In the northern hemisphere, October is the month that truly inaugurates the fall season. If you are a person who craves the excitement of the fall, with the promise of turning leaves and even the suggestions of future vacations, it's time to rejoice – you've done it! The constant heat of the summer is over, and it's all cold weather and hot drinks from here. However, if you are on the opposite side of that fence (like me) and the cold thought brings terror, well then, the long countdown for the spring has begun.
In astrology, we consider this a cardinal cardinal time means "to lead". The Sun is in the cardinal sign of Libra from September 22nd until October 23rd, which means that there are great seasonal (and energetic) changes.
Here's what's going on in the planets this month, which could have an impact on your life and the practice of yoga.
Venus is retrograde from October 5th to November 16th
While Venus seems to be turning in the sky and turning back towards the sign of Libra, many of us will discover that the old unresolved problems with who we love, the way we love and like us leave us be loved, you will slowly begin to push yourself towards our conscience.
Venus governs love (and also intimacy, pleasure, love and possessiveness). This retrograde finds Venus moving between Scorpio and Libra. In the sign of Scorpio, Venus asks us to look beneath the surface in whatever we have been blind; in Libra, Venus asks us to examine our insincerities and the ways in which we compromise.
Although this may seem difficult and very nice, the good news about retrograde planets is that they allow us time and space to evaluate. In the case of Venus, romantic love will be taken into consideration, and so it will be everything we appreciate. This is because Venus rules both Libra (which is all a matter of collaboration) and Taurus (which is all a matter of abundance). So, get ready for a personalized combination of both themes to get to your home, ready to be studied.
To help you do this preparation work, ask yourself: What do you appreciate? What do you like? Do you think that the people you love are more precious than you? Venus will bring you the wisdom you need to do some healing around everything. This is a good time to practice yoga positions that open the heart. After all, love and self-esteem usually feel more deeply in our heart space.

The yoga positions that open the heart, like the Camel (Ustrasana), are excellent to practice during retrograde coming.

New Moon in Libra 8 October
This New Moon is perfectly timed (and themed) to help support our retrograde Venus work. The themes of this Moon will include maintaining the balance between emotions and identity. Do you abandon yourself when someone else appears with stronger needs and preferences? Stay in a state of indecision because you do not want to face the repercussions of a "bad choice?". Libra is about relationships, so this is a powerful moment to get to the root of relational issues.
The Sun and the Moon also create important connections with other planets during this New Moon. Ceres, the asteroid goddess of self-care, abundance, money and food, is here to remind us that we can not have quality relationships that nourish us unless we practice adequate self-care . Are we mothers ourselves in the ways our mothers do not have or could not? Otherwise, now is the time to start.
Moreover, difficult connections with Pluto and Neptune remind us that love is not all sun and roses. Idealizations feel good, but they are fragile. The solid and lasting love comes at the price of open honesty on the baggage that we carry in our relationships. If we do not process the inconvenient things in our current partnerships, it will travel with us in every relationship we have.
The new moons are a moment of genesis, creation and formulation. Stay calm and calm while waiting for your answers to arrive. Take deep, slow breaths as you practice, to support the flow of information from your inner guidance. The more information we have about what we want to create, the better.

Sun moved to Scorpio on October 23rd
When that happens, we'll have a few weeks of Venus in Scorpio, so this energy shift should be relatively familiar. But remember that the Sun in Scorpio underscores every need we need to open and explore the depths of our own psychology (and also that of others).
While the Sun is in the sign of Scorpio, be very curious about the parts of your practice that you do not like. Ask yourself why – and take a personal challenge to investigate your resistance. This investigation could take you to new and never explored places within you, and Scorpio approves it.

Scorpio encourages us not to resist when it comes to difficult positions.

Full moon in Taurus, October 24th
The next day, we have a powerful Full Moon in the (I should say stubborn?) sign of the bull. Full moons are a powerful moment to free ourselves from old and old emotions, but let me tell you: these things are not always easy to give up, and they may seem particularly difficult to release this month, because of other connections the moon does.
The Moon in Taurus is directly in front of the Sun in Scorpio and both form a square to the Nodes of the Moon, all in the fixed signs. The fixed signs in astrology (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) can be immovable in their ideas, feelings and beliefs. This is a good time to explore all the crystallized places inside of your soul and your psyche that are sore to relax and dissolve a little.
Taurus rules many things, including "the resources I have" and Scorpio, in this sense, regulates "the resources we share". So, specifically look for any stagnant idea or principle that involved money or abundance, and the ways you avoid evolving in these areas.
Uranus too is part of this story, with a close relationship with the Moon. Remember that the Moon rules our emotions and Uranus shakes things. Of course, we get excited for our money! Of course, change is scary! Uranus will challenge all those places where we are tightening.
This is a good time to incorporate Lion's Breath into your practice. Using the breath to move the stagnant energy up and out of our bodies is something that the Taurus can get behind.
The most important thing to remember this month is that even in places of hardship, we are strong. Even when relationships and money put us to the test, we are strong. We can look at these modern tests as an extension of our yoga practice. We are learning resistance; we are learning to keep a pose for a few other breaths, even when it becomes difficult. It is this development of resistance that truly brings us the capacity for growth.
